Why bother with an online room

Online networking has a reputation, most of it earned by webinars pretending to be conversations. The ones worth an hour have three things going for them.

  • Geography stops being the filter

    The useful person for your business is rarely the nearest one. An online room is the only place a Bristol consultant and a Manchester buyer end up in the same conversation on a Tuesday lunchtime.

  • An hour, not an evening

    The real cost of in-person networking is the travel either side of it. An online session costs exactly its own length, which makes a bad one survivable and a good one repeatable.

  • Easier to actually speak in

    Structured breakouts and a queue for the microphone suit people who find a loud room hard work. A lot of quietly effective networkers do their best work here.
